Educational Assistant (UAE Nationals) - Full-Time

About the role

Dubai American Academy, GEMS Education's flagship American curriculum school (Pre-K to Grade 12, including the IB Diploma Programme), is hiring a full-time Educational Assistant for its team in Dubai. The school is rated Outstanding by the KHDA for 13 consecutive years. The successful candidate will be a UAE national who contributes to and supports a positive learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Embrace and encourage the ethos and standards of excellence defined in the GEMS Core Values.
• Assist teachers with related activities and run small group activities inside or outside the classroom as directed.
• Prepare and tidy classroom activities, mount work displays and help prepare them.
• Photocopy documents and help prepare worksheets as requested.
• Cover classes for short periods in emergency situations.
• Tidy and rearrange stock cupboards and distribute new stock.
• Develop familiarity with aspects of the curriculum such as literacy, numeracy and phonics.
• Follow GEMS policies, procedures and codes of conduct at all times.
• Go beyond the typical work day when tasks need extra commitment, attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
• Maintain tact, confidentiality and discretion, keeping student and school information private unless approved by the teacher or senior management.
• Perform other duties as requested by direct and dotted-line managers or supervisors.

Required profile

• UAE nationality (as specified in the job title).
• A good level of general education; previous experience in a similar position or working with children is an advantage.
• Strong communication skills with excellent written and spoken English.
• Available for a Monday to Friday schedule.

Required skills

• Ability to handle a range of tasks, work under pressure and relate well to children and colleagues.
• ICT skills are desirable.
