Electrical Engineer (TAQA Approved)

About the role

Emirates Electrical & Instrumentation Company LLC, a member of the Ghobash Group, is looking for an Electrical Engineer (TAQA approved) in Abu Dhabi. The company has contributed to the UAE's oil and gas sector for almost 20 years, delivering full EPC&M services for electrical and instrumentation works, with ADNOC and Tier 1 and Tier 2 EPC contractors among its main clients.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise MV cable laying by direct burial, duct bank, trench and cable tray, including route survey, trenching, bedding, cable pulling and backfill.
• Prepare and review cable pulling plans (tension, bending radius, drum handling) and cable schedules and route layouts.
• Oversee cable jointing and termination by qualified jointers, verify compliance with manufacturer procedures and approved kits, and check identification, tagging, route markers, warning tape, protective tiles and as-built records.
• Coordinate with civil teams on trenches, duct banks, road crossings and utility clearances before excavation.
• Witness pre-energization tests (insulation resistance, VLF/hipot, sheath integrity, continuity, phasing), review results and ensure defects are fixed.
• Support commissioning with clients, consultants and third-party testers, and supervise daily electrical installations in line with drawings, specifications and schedules.
• Monitor transformers, switchgear, MCCs, UPS systems, generators, lighting and earthing, and review drawings, method statements and work procedures.
• Conduct site inspections against quality requirements and ITPs, resolve technical issues such as route clashes and material delays, and plan and control materials on site.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants and subcontractors, prepare progress reports, take part in project meetings, and support close-out, punch list clearance and handover.

Required profile

• Minimum 8-10 years of experience in electrical construction, installation and commissioning.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, industrial, power or infrastructure projects; UAE/GCC experience preferred.
• Relevant experience in MV cable laying and electrical infrastructure, preferably with hands-on experience in TAQA infrastructure projects.
• Relevant certifications in electrical systems and safety practices preferred.

• Electrical power distribution (HV/LV), transformers, switchgear, MCCs and VFDs
• Cable laying, glanding and termination, lighting and earthing systems
• Electrical testing and commissioning, reading electrical drawings and single-line diagrams
• Familiarity with IEC, IEEE and ADNOC standards
• Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD
