Engine Performance Engineer II (Turbofan)

About the role

EDGE, an advanced technology group headquartered in the United Arab Emirates, is looking for a Turbofan Performance Engineer. The engineer performs thermodynamic cycle analysis to support turbofan engine architecture design, optimisation and validation throughout the full development lifecycle, from concept through certification and into service support.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain engine thermodynamic cycle models
• Define engine deck and engine operating envelopes and performance targets
• Interface with the aircraft performance team
• Optimise specific fuel consumption (SFC), thrust, thermal efficiency, engine operability and mission performance
• Advise on architecture design and support system integration to ensure consistent engine performance
• Support test activities and the instrumentation plan, and take part in engine test analysis

Required profile

• Master's degree or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Turbomachinery or Fluid Dynamics (turbulence, multiphase flows, boundary layer behaviour)
• Experience in turbofan architecture, compressor and turbine matching, engine operability and SFC analysis
• Fluent in English
• Preferred: 4+ years of experience
• Preferred: gas-turbomachinery thermodynamics, engine cycle analysis, aircraft propulsion integration and performance matching

Required skills

• NPSS, GasTurb, Simulink, Python or AxStream (proficiency in one)
• Good communication and presentation skills, problem-solving and task prioritisation
