Field Service Engineer / Technician

About the role

Atlas Copco is looking for a Field Service Engineer / Technician to work on-site at its Abu Dhabi office. The role ensures the safe, reliable and efficient operation of Atlas Copco Specialty Rental equipment by providing advanced field engineering, commissioning, troubleshooting, repair and customer support. It acts as the technical focal point at customer sites and supports uptime, customer satisfaction and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead installation, commissioning, start-up, performance testing, shutdown and demobilization of rental equipment and engineered utility packages.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, instrumentation, engine, generator and control-system faults.
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance according to approved plans, work orders and manuals, and lead root cause analysis of recurring failures.
• Conduct site surveys, review customer utility requirements and give technical advice on equipment selection and installation.
• Coach and supervise technicians and operators while maintaining permit-to-work and site safety requirements.
• Coordinate with Sales, Operations, SHEQ, Application Engineering, suppliers and customers, and prepare service, commissioning, inspection and breakdown reports.
• Support cost control by identifying required parts and minimizing repeat visits, and take part in standby and emergency response including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• Follow SHEQ requirements: stop work when unsafe, complete risk assessments, permits and isolations, and use only approved tools and PPE.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Instrumentation or a related engineering discipline.
• Typically 3 or more years of industrial field service experience; strong capability may be considered in place of the full range.
• Experience with rotating equipment, industrial utility systems, engines, generators and PLC/controller-based equipment.
• Ability to read electrical drawings, P&IDs, control diagrams, manuals and datasheets, and to troubleshoot with multimeters, diagnostic software and pressure and temperature instruments.
• Strong English communication and technical reporting skills; additional regional languages are an advantage.
• Valid driving licence and willingness to travel extensively, including remote, offshore or customer-controlled sites.
• Able to work in hot, noisy, dusty and outdoor industrial environments, and to lift and carry loads within legal limits.
