General Accountant

About the role

The General Accountant will ensure the accuracy of financial records, support day‑to‑day accounting operations and help the organization stay compliant with accounting standards and tax regulations. This role is pivotal for timely financial reporting and effective cash‑flow management.

Key responsibilities

• Record daily financial transactions and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
• Reconcile bank accounts, supplier statements and general‑ledger balances.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
• Assist with month‑end and year‑end closing activities.
• Monitor cash flow and support treasury‑related tasks.
• Prepare VAT returns and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
• Maintain fixed‑asset registers and calculate depreciation.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
• Provide documentation for internal and external audits.
• Identify process‑improvement opportunities and help implement financial controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a similar role.
• Experience handling VAT filing and FTA compliance (UAE preferred).
• Familiarity with labour‑cost allocations and payroll accounting in the UAE.
• Background in construction or contracting industries is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP/accounting software such as SAP, Oracle, Tally, Zoho Books, QuickBooks or Microsoft Dynamics.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong knowledge of VAT regulations and compliance requirements.
