General Construction Superintendent - ADNOC Gas Habshan

About the role

Wood is recruiting an experienced General Construction Superintendent for a multi-billion-dollar ADNOC Gas EPCM project at Habshan. The role leads and coordinates all on-site construction activities so that they are completed safely, on time and within budget, in line with approved designs, project specifications, schedules, quality and safety requirements, ADNOC standards and UAE regulations. It covers multiple disciplines, work fronts, contractors and subcontractors.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate discipline superintendents, area superintendents, foremen, supervisors and subcontractors across civil, structural, mechanical, piping, welding, electrical, instrumentation, control systems, HVAC, painting and insulation.
• Develop, implement and monitor construction execution plans, work-front strategies, resource deployment and site logistics.
• Ensure strict compliance with ADNOC HSE requirements, permit-to-work procedures, risk assessments, job safety analyses and method statements.
• Monitor progress against approved schedules, identify critical-path activities and delays, and drive recovery plans and productivity improvements.
• Coordinate with the Construction Manager, Project Manager, planning, engineering, procurement, quality, HSE, commissioning and client teams, and support variation, change order and extension of time assessments.
• Oversee quality requirements, including inspection coordination, welding and NDT, material traceability, pressure testing and electrical testing.
• Manage brownfield construction, tie-ins, shutdown work and SIMOPS in operating gas processing facilities, and coordinate equipment, temporary facilities and scaffolding.
• Maintain accurate records, daily reports, punch lists and as-built information, and drive mechanical completion and handover to pre-commissioning and commissioning.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation or another relevant engineering discipline; equivalent technical qualifications with extensive senior construction management experience may be considered.
• Minimum of 20 years of relevant industry experience, including significant senior-level construction management on major oil and gas or gas processing projects.
• Strong knowledge of ADNOC standards, HSE requirements, quality management systems and UAE regulations, and of international codes such as ASME, API, ASTM, IEC, IEEE and ISO.
• Excellent written and spoken English; additional languages relevant to the workforce are an advantage.
• Valid UAE driving licence where required by site access, and physical fitness for a demanding site-based role with extended site presence and occasional long hours.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with Primavera P6, construction progress measurement systems, project reporting platforms and electronic document management systems.
• Construction planning, scheduling, resource management, contract administration and risk management.
• HSE, construction management or project management certifications are advantageous; professional engineering registration is desirable.
