Head Nurse – Outpatient Department (OPD)

About the role

The Head Nurse – OPD will lead the outpatient department team in Sharjah, ensuring safe, effective, and patient‑centred care. This senior nursing role involves clinical oversight, staff coordination, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee delivery of safe and appropriate patient care across the unit.
• Assess patients, determine nursing interventions, prioritize needs, and evaluate outcomes.
• Develop and revise individualized care plans.
• Coordinate clinical activities when acting as charge nurse and assist with shift staffing.
• Plan, implement, and evaluate clinical programs and evidence‑based practices.
• Maintain accurate, real‑time clinical records.
• Perform advanced nursing skills, including life‑support procedures.
• Act as a clinical resource and represent nursing in multidisciplinary rounds.
• Participate in developing standards, procedures, and protocols.
• Support training, education, and continuous quality improvement for nursing staff.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing nursing teams.
• Ability to influence change and make effective decisions.
• Strong communication skills in English (spoken and written).
• Current registration as a nurse with the relevant UAE health authority.
• Responsibility for personal professional re‑licensure.
• Valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider card.
• Willingness to work across departments as needed.
