Head of Quality Assurance

About the role

The Head of Quality Assurance will support the Group Head of ISAG in delivering Shari'a audit excellence and governance oversight, ensuring compliance with Shari'a rules, AAOIFI standards and IIA guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Lead internal Shari'a audit as the third line of defense, providing independent assurance on governance, risk management and internal controls.
• Develop and execute risk‑based audit plans, update Shari'a risk ratings and coordinate audit scopes with business units.
• Conduct quality assurance reviews of audit documentation, exception reports, and audit programmes.
• Prepare and present audit plans, risk ratings and performance reports to the Board Audit Committee and senior management.
• Supervise the i‑Shari'a audit system, business continuity planning and coordination with Group Internal Audit and Compliance.

Required profile

• Chartered Accountant or Bachelor’s degree from a reputable university.
• 7‑10 years of audit experience, preferably in a Big 4 firm or Islamic banking, with exposure to Shari'a audit.
• Professional certifications such as CIA (IIA) or CSAA (AAOIFI‑Bahrain).

Required skills

• Internal Audit, IIA standards, Shari'a audit methodology.
• Risk‑Based Audit Planning, GRC systems, MIS reporting.
• Advanced MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
• Knowledge of AAOIFI standards, HSA guidelines and CBA‑UAE regulatory requirements.
