Head of Student Experience

About the role

Al Salam Community School is looking for an experienced Head of Student Experience to join its Leadership Team, reporting directly to the Principal. The role leads school-wide initiatives covering student welfare, safeguarding, enrichment, career readiness and community engagement, within a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead student welfare, safeguarding, attendance, wellbeing and positive behaviour management initiatives
• Act as the main contact for KHDA and other external agencies on safeguarding and student welfare matters
• Oversee enrichment programmes such as extracurricular clubs, educational trips, student leadership activities and community service
• Develop future-readiness programmes covering academic and career guidance, Rahhal pathways, digital literacy and AI education
• Build relationships with parents, alumni, staff and the wider school community, and gather stakeholder feedback to improve student experience
• Lead strategic planning, school self-evaluation, staff development and continuous improvement
• Manage and support the Designated Safeguarding Lead, counsellors, Rahhal Programme Lead, Enrichment Officer and School Doctor
• Monitor quality assurance and ensure compliance with KHDA and British Schools Overseas (BSO) standards

Required profile

• 3-5 years of senior leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams
• Demonstrated success in improving pastoral care, safeguarding, student wellbeing and enrichment programmes
• Previous experience in high-performing schools and a strong commitment to child protection and student welfare
• NPQH or an equivalent leadership qualification is desirable; DSL Level 3 safeguarding certification or equivalent experience is desirable
• Understanding of Islamic values and the UAE education sector is desirable

Required skills

• Knowledge of KHDA and BSO standards, quality assurance and school improvement planning
• Excellent leadership, communication, strategic planning, decision-making and stakeholder management skills
• Advantageous: experience with enrichment activities, vocational pathways, career guidance, digital literacy and AI literacy
