Head of Year Primary (Bateen World Academy)

About the role

Aldar Academies is seeking a Head of Year (Primary) for Bateen World Academy, located in central Abu Dhabi, starting in the 2027-2028 academic year. The school is a British and IB World School offering the IB Primary Years Programme (FS1 to Year 6) and the IB Diploma and Career-related programmes (Years 12 and 13). The successful candidate will be closely aligned with the school's core values and understand the values of the region.

Key responsibilities

• Plan teaching and learning in line with the school's Teaching and Learning Policy, setting clear objectives and targets and differentiating for SEN, EAL and G&T students
• Provide clear lesson structure, use assessment for learning and performance data to inform planning, and make effective use of ICT
• Maintain discipline according to the Behaviour for Learning Policy and mark students' work at least once every two weeks
• Assess and record student progress, assess for examination bodies, and prepare informative reports for parents
• Support parent and student events, update curriculum plans and schemes of work, and keep subject knowledge up to date through CPD
• Lead or support one after-school activity each term, act as Academic Mentor and Extended Essay Supervisor for Year 12/13, and cover for absent colleagues
• Invigilate examinations as required and carry out other duties assigned by the Principal

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Primary Education
• At least 3 years of teaching experience
• Experience in more than one international school and teaching the PYP or British curriculum
• Knowledge of UAE Ministry of Education and ADEK regulations
• Clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police check; offers are subject to satisfactory references and police clearance
