Housekeeping Manager

About the role

The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for the daily shift operations of Housekeeping, the Recreation/Health Club and, if applicable, Laundry. The manager directs and works with employees to make sure guestrooms, public spaces and employee areas are clean and well maintained, completes inspections and holds people accountable for corrective action, while helping ensure guest and employee satisfaction within the operating budget.

Key responsibilities

• Manage housekeeping operations and budgets: verify guest room status is passed to the Front Desk in time, inspect rooms daily, obtain lists of rooms to clean and prospective check-outs, inventory supplies, and manage the department's budget.
• Supervise daily shift operations, enforce housekeeping policies and standards, and ensure staff have the right supplies, equipment and uniforms.
• Train new room attendants, schedule staff, track time and attendance, and handle progressive discipline and peer review processes.
• Handle guest problems and complaints, take part in corrective action plans, and focus on continuous improvement of guest satisfaction.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with 2 years of experience in housekeeping or a related field, OR
• 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration or a related major, with no work experience required.
