Hydrology & Surface Water Expert (Roster, Multiple Locations)

About the role

CTG is recruiting a Hydrology & Surface Water Expert to join its pre-vetted Talent Roster. The roster supports rapid deployment to development, humanitarian, government and institutional partners, and is not an immediate job offer: successful candidates may be contacted for future assignments matching their expertise, availability, mobility and commercial expectations. The role provides mid-to-senior technical expertise in hydrology, surface water assessment, hydrological modelling, hydroinformatics, IWRM, water resilience and sustainable water resource management, with potential assignments in the Middle East, Africa, Asia and other regions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct hydrological assessments, watershed and river basin studies, runoff estimation, flood and drought risk analysis, and surface water availability assessments
• Analyse rainfall, streamflow, catchment, water balance, climate and hydrometeorological data, and support surface water-groundwater interaction assessments
• Develop, review or support hydrological models and work with GIS, remote sensing, hydroinformatics and water databases
• Support assessments of non-conventional water resources such as desalination integration, treated wastewater reuse and water recovery
• Contribute to IWRM frameworks, SDG6 planning, water allocation and demand assessment, and turn technical outputs into policy and management recommendations
• Prepare technical reports, maps, modelling notes, presentations and advisory briefs

Required profile

• University degree in Hydrology, Water Resources Engineering, Civil or Environmental Engineering, Hydroinformatics, Water Resources Management, Geography or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred for senior technical assignments
• 5-20 years of demonstrable experience in hydrology, surface water analysis, water resources management, hydrological modelling or hydroinformatics
• 5-20 years of experience in an international environment
• Fluent English; fluent Arabic is desirable, especially for Middle East assignments
• Team management experience is desired

Required skills

• Surface water modelling, IWRM, SDG6, GIS and hydroinformatics
• Tools such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWAT, MIKE, WEAP, ArcGIS, QGIS and remote sensing platforms
• Strong technical writing and stakeholder engagement

The roster lasts up to 3 years and may be renewed. Assignments can be fixed-term, project-based, consultancy, retainer, remote, hybrid or on-site. No fee is ever asked for during the recruitment process.
