Inspector - Mechanical Local Operations (Rotating Equipment)

About the role

Bureau Veritas is hiring a Mechanical Inspector (rotating equipment) for its Marine & Offshore business in Dubai. The post is permanent and involves inspecting rotating equipment installed by construction contractors, in line with client and HSE requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Comply with client lifesaving rules and DPE HSE requirements.
• Witness and monitor construction contractors' rotating equipment activities, inspections and tests according to the approved ITP, quality procedures and method statements.
• Ensure contractors have current standards, specifications, procedures and drawings.
• Check that testing and measuring devices are calibrated as specified.
• Take part in receiving inspection of rotating equipment on site, if required.
• Attend the SAT (site acceptance test).
• Review contractors' quality records and raise and verify punch items once work is completed.
• Issue and follow up non-conformance reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical engineering.
• Sound knowledge of API RP 686 and of rotating equipment installation codes and standards.
• API SIRE (Source Inspector Rotating Equipment) or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of experience inspecting rotating equipment installation on site.
• Excellent verbal and written English.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Windows and MS Office (Word, Excel)
• Strong technical judgement and understanding of site activities related to rotating equipment installation
