Instrumentation and Automation Engineer

About the role

The Instrumentation & Automation Engineer will lead the instrumentation, control, automation, PLC, SCADA and testing & commissioning activities for a Sewage Treatment Plant project in Dubai, ensuring compliance with Dubai Municipality requirements and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise installation, calibration, testing and commissioning of field instruments (flow, level, pressure, temperature, pH, DO, turbidity, chlorine, etc.) and control equipment.
• Review and approve design documents, IFC drawings, specifications, control philosophies, instrument datasheets, shop drawings and material submittals.
• Coordinate instrumentation works with civil, mechanical, electrical, process and MEP disciplines.
• Monitor PLC and SCADA programming, configuration, graphics, alarms, trends and communication interfaces.
• Lead loop checking, point‑to‑point testing, functional testing, FAT and SAT, and ensure proper documentation and handover.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical, Control Systems or related field.
• 10‑15 years of experience in instrumentation, control, automation and SCADA, with at least 5 years on sewage or water treatment plant projects.
• Proven experience in installation, testing, commissioning and operation of PLC, SCADA, HMI, RTU, MCC, VFD and process instrumentation systems.
• Strong knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and relevant international and Dubai Municipality standards.

• PLC, SCADA, HMI, RTU, MCC, VFD programming and configuration.
• Instrumentation expertise: flow, level, pressure, temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, chlorine analyzers.
• P&IDs, instrument index, I/O schedules, cable schedules, control philosophies, cause‑and‑effect matrices.
• Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), loop checking and signal verification.
