Junior Research Scientist – Air Pollution & Policy

About the role

The Center for Interacting Urban Networks (CITIES) at New York University Abu Dhabi is seeking a Junior Research Scientist to contribute to interdisciplinary projects on air pollution and environmental policy in the UAE and worldwide. The role involves measuring public perceptions of air quality, engaging policymakers, and expanding data collection and public outreach initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Design and conduct surveys to assess knowledge and attitudes toward air quality.
• Analyze quantitative data sets related to pollution measurements and policy impacts.
• Collaborate with faculty, local stakeholders, and international partners to develop engagement strategies.
• Support the creation of visualizations and reports for policymakers and the public.
• Assist in expanding the network of air‑quality sensors and managing the resulting data streams.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a social science discipline.
• Experience with quantitative research methods.
• Strong computational and data‑management abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
