Junior Researcher – Wildlife Reproductive Science

About the role

Based at NARC in Al Ain, the Junior Researcher will support the Dama Gazelle project by conducting reproductive assessments, collecting and analysing semen, and performing cryopreservation. The four‑month contract contributes to scientific activities and the preparation of a technical report for the client.

Key responsibilities

• Assess internal and external reproductive organs of dama gazelles using ultrasonography.
• Perform ultrasound‑guided semen collection and analyse quality with CASA, flow cytometry, and morphology assessment.
• Cryopreserve semen, document procedures and results, and maintain accurate research records.
• Prepare a technical report presenting methods, results and conclusions for the client.
• Coordinate with the research team to organise activities and meet project deadlines.

Required profile

• PhD in reproductive biology, veterinary science, animal reproduction or a closely related field.
• Experience with ultrasonographic assessment of reproductive organs.
• Proficiency in semen collection techniques for wild ungulates.
• Ability to analyse semen using CASA and flow cytometry and to assess sperm morphology.
• Experience in cryopreservation and scientific data analysis.
• Strong technical report writing skills.
