Junior Sous Chef - Latin American Restaurant

About the role

The Ritz-Carlton in Dubai is looking for a Junior Sous Chef for its Latin American restaurant. This is an entry-level management position focused on achieving the kitchen's daily objectives, assisting in leading staff while taking part personally in food production, purchasing and kitchen sanitation. The role helps ensure guest and employee satisfaction while keeping the operating budget under control.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain food handling and sanitation standards and keep work areas clean and sanitary
• Oversee production and preparation of food, check the quality of raw and cooked products and help design presentation and decorative displays
• Supervise cooks and workers, lead shifts and prepare food to specification, including for special guests and events
• Coordinate with the Restaurant and Banquet departments on service timing and support new menus, concepts and promotions
• Manage daily shift operations, staffing levels and supplies, and ensure employees have the right equipment and uniforms
• Take part in performance appraisals, give feedback, handle employee questions and conduct training when appropriate
• Handle guest problems and complaints, set a positive example for guest relations and empower staff to deliver excellent service
• Purchase supplies, manage food and supply inventories within budget and report equipment malfunctions

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED, or a 2-year degree in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management or a related major
• 4 years of experience in culinary, food and beverage or a related field, or 2 years with a degree
