Lead CNC Machine Operator

About the role

EDGE, an advanced technology group headquartered in the United Arab Emirates and based in Abu Dhabi, is hiring a Lead CNC Machine Operator. As Lead CNC Machine Operator, you will be involved in machining setup and production, and supervise a team of CNC operators in their day-to-day work of producing parts to customer specifications. You interpret blueprints, sketches or other descriptions of parts to be machined from selected materials.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, run and maintain CNC horizontal and vertical milling and turning centers, including setup, production and maintenance.
• Supervise the CNC team to ensure operations run to a high standard, train others and work independently.
• Follow NC management according to QMS requirements and participate in product problem solving.
• Maintain 5S and housekeeping, monitor attendance, and keep OEE and scrap/rejection rates within targets.
• Ensure daily SFC data entry and downtime reporting, and report machine breakdowns immediately to the manager.
• Perform TPM and coolant monitoring, and carry out RCA and CAPA against NCRs.
• Prepare off-cuts, fabricate fixtures and jigs, and handle raw materials and finished goods with a forklift.
• Manually program machines when needed, and operate dynamic tool balancers, Zoller and shrink-fit equipment.
• Handle changeovers of legacy production, maintain consumables and take part in daily production meetings.

Required profile

• Certificate or diploma in Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Strong programming experience is a must.
• Preferred: minimum of 10 years' experience as a senior CNC machine operator in aerospace, oil and gas or defense machining, or in aerospace, manufacturing or engineering environments.
• English proficiency is required.

Required skills

• Strong CNC programming experience.
• Computer programming and CAD/CAM software preferred.
• Knowledge of machine shop equipment, tools and precision measuring devices.
