Lead CNC Operator

About the role

EDGE, an advanced technology group focused on defence and emerging technologies, is hiring a Lead CNC Machine Operator in Abu Dhabi. You will be involved in setup, production and supervision of a team of CNC operators who produce parts to customer specifications, interpreting blueprints, sketches or other descriptions of parts to be machined from selected materials.

Key responsibilities

• Use a variety of CNC machining tools and precision measuring devices to perform processes in line with approved working documents.
• Set up, run and maintain CNC horizontal and vertical milling and turning centers.
• Supervise the CNC team to a high standard, train others and work independently.
• Follow NC management according to QMS requirements and participate in product problem solving.
• Maintain 5S and housekeeping, monitor attendance, and track OEE and scrap/rejection rates against KPIs.
• Enter SFC data and downtime daily, and report machine breakdowns immediately to the manager.
• Set up tooling, fixtures and jigs, operate dynamic tool balancers, Zoller and shrink-fit equipment, and handle raw materials and finished goods with a forklift.
• Perform manual programming, prepare off-cuts and fabricate small fixtures and jigs, and maintain consumables.
• Take part in daily production meetings, and carry out RCA and CAPA against NCRs.

Required profile

• Certificate or diploma in Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Preferred: minimum 10 years' experience as a senior CNC machine operator in aerospace, oil and gas, defence machining or equivalent.
• Preferred: experience in aerospace, manufacturing, engineering or industrial environments.
• English proficiency required.

Required skills

• Strong programming experience (a must).
• Computer programming and CAD/CAM software.
