Lead Engineer - M365

About the role

Lead Engineer responsible for the design, security, and operation of the Microsoft 365 estate, Entra ID, and Azure platform. This hands‑on role sets technical standards, leads a small engineering team, and acts as the final technical escalation point.

Key responsibilities

• Own architecture, security and operation of Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Intune, Defender and Purview.
• Manage Entra ID identity platform covering Conditional Access, Privileged Identity Management, hybrid identity and governance.
• Engineer Azure platform governance – landing zones, subscriptions, policies, monitoring, access control and cost management.
• Define and enforce technical standards across the estate.
• Design and maintain Zero Trust security posture, device compliance and data protection.
• Automate administration as code with version control and change management.
• Lead major platform changes such as migrations, tenant work and new service introductions.
• Serve as senior technical escalation point and mentor engineers.

Required profile

• Deep hands‑on expertise with Microsoft 365 at enterprise scale.
• Strong Entra ID engineering experience including Conditional Access and identity governance.
• Proven track record leading large‑scale Microsoft 365 platform projects.
• Practical security and compliance knowledge, especially Zero Trust and Defender.
• Experience with automation and infrastructure‑as‑code (PowerShell, Bicep, Terraform or ARM).
• Solid Azure platform engineering and governance skills.
