Lead Researcher - AI Research Center

About the role

The Technology Innovation Institute (TII), a publicly funded research institute based in Abu Dhabi, UAE, is hiring a Lead Researcher for its AI Research Center. The role leads advanced AI research initiatives, drives innovation and contributes to cutting-edge technologies, and involves leading research projects from conception to completion, mentoring junior researchers and collaborating with cross-functional teams to turn theoretical advances into practical applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design and conduct original AI research, including machine learning, deep learning, NLP and computer vision.
• Oversee research projects so they are delivered on time and aligned with strategic objectives.
• Develop and implement novel algorithms and models for real-world applications.
• Stay up to date with AI advancements and integrate emerging technologies into research.
• Work with engineers, data scientists and product teams to apply research findings.
• Present results through reports, presentations and publications in top-tier conferences.
• Mentor junior researchers and interns on methodology and project execution.
• Ensure adherence to ethical standards and responsible AI practices.

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence or a related field.
