About the role
Flatgigs is looking for an experienced Staff Software Engineer to lead the design and delivery of secure, scalable backend systems. This is a hands-on leadership role covering architecture, coding and mentoring, working closely with Product and cross-functional teams.
Key responsibilities
- Design and build reliable, testable, production-ready backend services.
- Drive architectural decisions and own features end to end.
- Write clean, maintainable code with strong test coverage.
- Mentor engineers and set best practices across the team.
- Oversee system monitoring, incident response and workflow improvements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally and contribute to hiring efforts.
Required profile
- 5+ years of backend experience.
- 4+ years with Node.js and TypeScript.
- Experience in a startup or fast-paced environment preferred.
Required skills
- Strong AWS expertise (Lambda, Cognito, S3, DynamoDB, SQS/SNS, CloudFormation).
- Serverless, microservices and event-driven architectures.
- TDD, CI/CD, REST/GraphQL APIs and secure coding.
- SQL and NoSQL databases.
