Logistics Supervisor - Customs Clearance

About the role

This role develops and maintains strong working relationships with Dubai Customs, JAFZA authorities, Dubai Trade, shipping lines, port operators, government agencies and strategic customers, ensuring smooth customs clearance, regulatory compliance and timely resolution of customs issues. It also supervises inbound and outbound processes and supports the customs clearance team.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with Dubai Customs, JAFZA, Dubai Trade, DP World, port and terminal operators, shipping lines, airlines and government ministries.
• Represent the company during customs inspections and audits, and resolve customs disputes, shipment holds and operational issues.
• Coordinate with customs officials for inspections, examinations and special approvals, and ensure compliance with UAE Customs and JAFZA regulations.
• Keep management informed of regulatory changes affecting import, export, transit and free zone operations, and support the customs clearance team with complex cases.
• Maintain good relationships with key customers needing customs services and attend meetings with authorities and strategic customers.
• Assist in obtaining permits and approvals from bodies such as MOHAP and Dubai Municipality.
• Monitor customs KPIs such as clearance turnaround time, penalties, complaints and inspection delays.
• Supervise inbound and outbound processes, check the ERP system for accurate transaction recording, and prepare regular performance reports for management.
• Train customs staff on new regulations and procedures, and ensure compliance with company quality and compliance standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration or equivalent (preferred).
• Dubai Customs Broker certification (preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of UAE customs experience.
• Minimum 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Fluent English; Arabic is an advantage.

• Extensive knowledge of Dubai Customs, JAFZA procedures, Dubai Trade, Mirsal 2, UAE Customs Law and Free Zone regulations.
