Material Inspector (DCL Approved)

About the role

Stantec is hiring a Material Inspector (DCL approved) in Dubai for projects covering stormwater and drainage, flood alleviation, wastewater networks and water distribution networks. The role covers investigations, planning, design support, tendering, contract administration and construction monitoring, reporting to the Assistant Resident Engineer.

Key responsibilities

• Review contractor material submittals for civil and piping work and identify non-conforming materials, generate reports and corrective actions.
• Complete data collection and analysis for conceptual planning and design, and prepare material specification reports.
• Carry out asset condition assessments of materials against contract and local authority technical specifications.
• Assist in project administration: gathering information, drafting proposals and correspondence, tracking project costs and writing progress reports.
• Review work performed by designers and administrative staff, and liaise with teams working remotely from other countries.
• Conduct technical, feasibility studies and site investigations, and follow safe work practices and company quality procedures.
• Liaise with internal and external clients and manage utility diversions; other duties as requested by the Assistant Resident Engineer.

Required profile

• Demonstrated 10 years of experience in infrastructure projects.
• Holders of Dubai Central Laboratory (DCL) approval.
• Experience in quality inspections with hands-on knowledge of ISO 9000 quality systems.
• Excellent verbal and written English, and experience in utility diversion and management.
