Materials and Procurement Engineer

About the role

Nova International General Contracting, a newly established UAE-based general contractor specializing in branded residences, is looking for an experienced Materials & Procurement Engineer for its Abu Dhabi head office. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the role sources, evaluates and procures materials and subcontractors for major construction projects, ensuring material availability, compliance with project specifications and efficient site execution.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare project-specific procurement plans aligned with construction schedules and coordinate with site teams for accurate material forecasts
• Sourcing and evaluation: find qualified suppliers and subcontractors, obtain and evaluate technical and commercial quotations, develop comparison sheets and support contract award recommendations
• Maintain the approved vendor database and prepare and coordinate material submittals, following up on consultant comments and approvals
• Negotiate pricing, commercial terms and delivery conditions, and support contract issuance
• Track delivery schedules and consumption, monitor supplier and subcontractor performance and resolve delivery, quality or performance issues

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain or a related field; Civil Engineering preferred, Architecture acceptable
• 8-12 years of experience in procurement and materials management within contracting companies
• Nice to have: experience in the UAE construction market, building and villa compound projects, and tier-one contractors in the UAE

Required skills

• Understanding of procurement processes and ERP or procurement systems
• Ability to prepare RFQs, comparison sheets and contracts
• Experience with project specifications, BOQs and drawings
• Technical and commercial evaluation, negotiation and strong communication skills
