Mechanical Technician (Steam and Gas)

About the role

Acwa is hiring a Mechanical Technician (Steam and Gas) in Dubai, reporting to the Administrative Sourcing Director within Field Operations. The main purpose is to safely install, maintain, inspect and repair heavy rotating machinery used mainly in power generation, working closely with supervisors, HSE personnel and the Operations Department.

Key responsibilities

• Read schematic drawings and technical documentation to determine proper work procedures.
• Dismantle and assemble machinery and equipment using hand, power, pneumatic and hydraulic tools.
• Move machinery, parts and equipment using hoists, cranes, chain falls and trucks.
• Align machinery using hoists, squares, micrometers, dial indicators or laser alignment equipment recommendations.
• Perform machine and component inspections with precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, rules and calipers.
• Control tools, equipment and supplies, and perform other duties as assigned.
• Work with Outage Managers, Field Service Engineers and Supervisors internally, and build rapport with plant crews and contractors externally.

Required profile

• Diploma in Technical Field; Gas Turbine Systems Technician preferred.
• At least 2 years' experience maintaining, dismantling and installing machinery and industrial service equipment such as pumps, motors, fans, generators and turbines.
• Good understanding of the latest technology and innovation.
• Knowledge of applicable legal, quality and HSSE requirements.
• Willingness to travel, work on international sites in hardship locations and in shifts.
• Achievement oriented, team player able to work with several cultures, punctual and able to follow site work daily as assigned.
