Mechanical Technician - Steam and Gas Turbine

About the role

The Mechanical Technician (Steam and Gas) is responsible for the safe installation, maintenance, inspection and repair of heavy rotating machinery used mainly in power generation applications, such as turbines. The role reports to the Sourcing Director and works closely with supervisors, HSE personnel and the Operations Department.

Key responsibilities

• Read schematic drawings and technical documentation to determine proper work procedures.
• Dismantle and assemble machinery and equipment using hand, power, pneumatic and hydraulic tools.
• Move machinery, parts and equipment using hoists, cranes, chain falls and trucks.
• Align machinery using hoists, squares, micrometers, dial indicators or laser alignment equipment recommendations.
• Inspect machines and components with precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, rules and calipers.
• Control tools, equipment and supplies, and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Diploma in Technical Field; Gas Turbine Systems Technician preferred.
• At least two years of experience maintaining, dismantling and installing machinery and industrial service equipment such as pumps, motors, fans, generators and turbines.
• Good understanding of the latest technology and innovation.
• Knowledge of applicable legal, quality and HSSE requirements.
• Good knowledge of power plant operations, maintenance equipment, practices and procedures.
• Willingness to travel, work on international sites in hardship locations and shift work.
