MRI Radiographer

About the role

The MRI Radiographer is responsible for performing magnetic resonance imaging procedures, ensuring high‑quality diagnostic images, and supporting the radiology team in a busy acute‑care hospital environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform all MRI examinations in line with department policies, protocols and safety standards.
• Analyse image output, assess quality and forward images to radiologists for reporting.
• Administer IV contrast agents and conduct cannulations under supervision.
• Maintain inventory of supplies, report shortages and ensure equipment readiness.
• Operate advanced MRI software tools such as bolus tracking, image reconstruction, quantification and dynamic imaging.
• Document procedures, incidents and equipment faults promptly and accurately.
• Provide guidance to medical and technical staff on imaging techniques and protocol optimisation.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years post‑graduate experience in MRI within an acute‑care hospital.
• Minimum 4 years post‑graduate experience in MRI within an acute‑care hospital (as an alternative qualification).

Required skills

• Proficiency in performing MRI procedures and operating MRI scanners.
• Experience with advanced MRI software (bolus tracking, image reconstruction, quantification, dynamic imaging).
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and cross‑sectional imaging interpretation.
• Ability to administer IV contrast agents safely.
• Strong understanding of quality control, safety and infection‑control protocols.
