Multi-Skilled Helper - Lake Maintenance

About the role

Viya, part of wasl Hospitality & Leisure, is hiring a Multi-Skilled Helper for its Dubai Golf Lake Management department. Reporting to the Lake Management Specialist, the role covers routine manual labour in lake maintenance and on-course water features, including inspecting lakes, operating hand machinery and supporting landscaping and maintenance projects.

Key responsibilities

• Routinely inspect lakes for debris and remove it, and help with shore sand removal and debris clean-up by hand and with tools and equipment.
• Dig and back-fill excavations, prune reeds and shrubs around lakes, collect and remove dead fish and algal waste, and open clogged basket strainers and clean rocks for clear stream flow.
• Operate hand machinery and light equipment and handheld tools during preventative and reactive maintenance, and patrol lake facilities during working hours to respond to urgent issues and report changes in water colour.
• Load and unload the pick-up, unpack and store supplies and equipment in stockrooms, and take care of materials and equipment.
• Sharpen tools, install, repair and paint, assist in erecting and dismantling works, move tanks and equipment on site, sweep and remove rubbish.
• May assist in fish transfer and netting, and may operate boats depending on assignment.
• Report maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents or injuries to the duty in charge, and keep the work site and adjacent golf grounds clean.
• Participate in extra activities such as committees and projects, and may be trained as a Fire Marshall or First Aider.
• Follow the 4 Service Steps, comply with information security policies and report security incidents to the IT Service Desk.

Required profile

• School leaver's certificate and any further education.
• Experience working with sports turf, working with a large team and using machines.
• Knowledge of health and safety and lake maintenance.
• Spoken English is a must; certificates or credentials are desirable.
• Hardworking, honest and ambitious, team-oriented, flexible, with good judgment and decision making.
