Pharmacist

About the role

Bareen Pharmacy in Abu Dhabi is looking for a pharmacist to supervise and organize the assigned section of the pharmacy department. The role covers reviewing and verifying prescriptions, dispensing medicines safely, counselling patients and nurses, and taking part in quality improvement and safety activities.

Key responsibilities

• Review medication orders and patient medication profiles for appropriateness of therapy, and check for drug interactions, duplication, allergies and adverse reactions.
• Verify prescriptions and physicians' orders for accuracy before dispensing, and check pre-packed items, ward stocks and pharmacy trays prepared by support staff.
• Process medication orders, including entry and verification, and print fill lists, reports and labels as needed.
• Dispense medications to patients and nurses, counsel them with clear instructions, and calculate and confirm dosage calculations.
• Remove and replace expired medication, maintain proper documentation on patient profiles and prescriptions, and handle health insurance and billing tasks as required.
• Respond to adverse drug reactions and medication errors, recommend changes to medication therapy, and take part in quality improvement and safety activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or equivalent.
• Valid and active DOH (Department of Health - Abu Dhabi) pharmacist license.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant pharmacy experience preferred.
• Good knowledge of pharmaceutical products, medication management and UAE healthcare regulations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in English; Arabic is an advantage.
