PMC Junior Process Engineer

About the role

Wood is looking for a PMC Junior Process Engineer in Abu Dhabi to support its Process Engineering team on a high-profile client project. The role covers the review, coordination, analysis and implementation of process engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, technical, environmental and schedule requirements while helping process facilities operate efficiently and reliably.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in reviewing process engineering deliverables such as PFDs, P&IDs, calculations and datasheets
• Support process design verification and compliance with project specifications, codes and standards
• Take part in process safety studies such as HAZOP, HAZID and design review workshops
• Coordinate with engineering disciplines, vendors and contractors, and monitor construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up
• Review vendor and contractor submissions, support troubleshooting, and report risks, deviations and delays
• Help develop operating procedures, commissioning plans and performance test procedures
• Participate in site inspections, plant walkdowns and punch-list activities
• Support process simulation, performance analysis and optimization studies, and prepare technical reports and documentation
• Contribute to project handover, maintain engineering records and promote a strong safety culture

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related discipline
• Typically 0-5 years of experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, refining, LNG, energy or EPC/PMC projects
• Willingness to work on-site and support construction, commissioning and start-up
• Strong written and verbal English

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of process engineering fundamentals (thermodynamics, fluid flow, heat transfer, mass transfer)
• Familiarity with PFDs, P&IDs, equipment datasheets and process safety principles (HAZOP, HAZID)
• Preferred: process simulation software such as Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus or PRO/II
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering software tools
• Analytical, problem-solving and report-writing skills; teamwork and communication
