PMC Senior Commissioning Engineer

About the role

Wood is looking for an experienced PMC Senior Commissioning Engineer in Abu Dhabi to lead and coordinate pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, performance testing and system handover activities on behalf of a high-profile client. The goal is to bring plant systems and facilities into safe, efficient operation in line with project specifications, quality standards and operational requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, performance testing and handover activities on behalf of the client.
• Review and approve commissioning strategies, procedures, method statements, schedules and completion plans.
• Ensure mechanical completion and system readiness before commissioning begins.
• Coordinate commissioning between engineering, procurement, construction, vendors, contractors and operations teams, and monitor contractor performance.
• Lead system walkdowns, punch listing, punch clearance and handover; coordinate vendor representatives during testing, energization and start-up.
• Ensure all activities comply with HSE regulations, client requirements and industry standards.
• Approve commissioning dossiers, test reports, turnover packages and completion certificates.
• Manage interfaces between mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, process and operations teams, and verify flushing, cleaning, leak testing, loop checks and functional testing.
• Participate in readiness reviews, troubleshoot issues, support operating procedures and training, and lead functional, integrated system and performance testing.
• Monitor progress against schedule, prepare progress reports and KPIs, and support risk assessments, MOC and safety reviews.
• Mentor junior commissioning engineers and promote a culture of safety, quality and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Chemical, Process Engineering or a related discipline.
• Typically 15+ years of experience in commissioning, start-up, operations or project execution in oil & gas, LNG, petrochemical, refinery, power or energy projects.
• Proven experience in EPC, EPCM or PMC environments on large-scale projects.
• Demonstrated experience developing and reviewing commissioning procedures, method statements, test packs, schedules and turnover dossiers.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up and handover processes.
• Experience with commissioning management systems and completions databases such as MC Plus, ICAPS, GoTechnology or PIMS.
• Sound knowledge of international codes, standards and HSE requirements.
