Powertrain Engineer – Advanced R&D Mechanical Team

About the role

We are looking for a highly capable Powertrain Engineer to join our advanced R&D Mechanical Engineering team in Abu Dhabi. The role is central to propulsion development, covering ICE integration, drivetrain systems and full powertrain architecture for complex mechanical platforms. You will own the design from concept through integration, testing and validation in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end integration of ICE powertrain systems within mechanical platforms.
• Define and maintain system architecture for propulsion and drivetrain subsystems.
• Ensure full system integration, reliability and performance compliance.
• Integrate internal combustion engines, managing mounting, alignment, cooling, intake, exhaust, lubrication and accessories.
• Design and integrate gearboxes, reduction drives, clutches, belts, chains and CVT systems, perform gear‑ratio selection and torque capacity calculations.
• Conduct engineering analysis including torque, power, vibration, fatigue, thermal loads and drivetrain losses; perform CAD‑based design, packaging studies, motion analysis and basic FEA validation.
• Participate in bench, integration and system validation testing; analyse test data, identify root causes and drive iterative design improvements.
• Collaborate with controls, software, electrical, manufacturing and supplier teams to ensure seamless integration and configuration control using PDM/PLM systems.
• Prepare technical documentation, assembly drawings and integration instructions; maintain interface control and system traceability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 5 + years of experience in powertrain, ICE systems or drivetrain engineering.
• Hands‑on experience with internal combustion engines (2‑stroke or 4‑stroke) and prototype assembly, integration and troubleshooting.
• Proven ability to work in multidisciplinary R&D environments.
