Preschool Teacher Assistant

About the role

The Preschool Teacher Assistant supports the lead teacher in creating a safe, nurturing and stimulating learning environment for young children. The assistant helps with classroom management, prepares instructional materials, supervises children during activities and promotes positive social, emotional and cognitive development, in line with the curriculum and the school's educational goals.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher with daily lesson plans, learning activities and educational games aligned with the preschool curriculum.
• Supervise children during activities, playtime, meals and outdoor play, ensuring safety and positive behaviour.
• Reinforce classroom rules and help children develop appropriate social and emotional skills.
• Set up and organise classroom materials, resources and displays, and keep the space clean, organised and hazard-free.
• Provide one-on-one or small-group help to children who need extra support.
• Observe children's development and behaviour and report concerns or progress to the lead teacher.
• Help children with daily routines such as arrivals, departures, toileting, meals and rest time.
• Model respectful, inclusive and cooperative behaviour and work closely with the lead teacher and other staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree, Licenciatura en Educacion Preescolar or equivalent (required).
• TKT training course.
• Prior experience working with young children in an educational or care setting (preferred).
• All post holders are subject to vetting, including an online due diligence search, references and criminal background checks covering the previous 10 years of employment.
