Principal Engineer – Propulsion (Solid Rocket CFD)

About the role

This position focuses on performing CFD simulations and numerical analysis of solid‑propellant rocket motors, nozzles, blastpipes and thrust‑vector control systems to predict flow, combustion, heat transfer and overall performance.

Key responsibilities

• Perform CFD simulations of solid‑propellant rocket motors, grains, blastpipes, nozzles and thrust‑vector control systems.
• Predict flow distribution, combustion efficiency, heat transfer, flow ballistics and forces.
• Develop post‑test analysis codes and provide design optimisation based on CFD results.
• Validate numerical results against experimental test data and produce technical reports.

Required profile

• Minimum 12 years of experience in solid‑rocket propulsion engineering with CFD analysis.
• Master’s or PhD in Propulsion, Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering focusing on fluid dynamics.
• Knowledge of solid‑rocket design, manufacturing, testing and analysis (preferred).
• Experience with high‑speed reactive flows and turbulence/combustion modelling (preferred).

Required skills

• CFD tools such as ANSYS Fluent, ANSYS CFX or OpenFOAM.
• Programming and data‑analysis languages: Python, MATLAB.
• Expertise in turbulence, combustion and multiphase flow modelling.
• Solid‑propellant rocket motor analysis and thrust‑vector system design.
