Principal Flight Test Engineer

About the role

The Principal Flight Test Engineer leads the planning, execution and analysis of complex UAV flight‑test programs, ensuring compliance with certification, safety and engineering objectives. Acting as the technical authority, you will mentor junior engineers and support strategic decisions across company‑wide test activities.

Key responsibilities

• Define, plan and execute UAV flight‑test campaigns, translating specifications into test objectives.
• Prepare Flight Test Plans, Hazard Assessments and Test Reports in line with the ADASI Flight Test Operations Manual.
• Specify and oversee flight‑test instrumentation, telemetry and aircraft configurations.
• Manage test execution, monitoring, safety assurance and post‑test reporting.
• Liaise with certification authorities, MOD and external stakeholders on flight‑test matters.
• Ensure compliance with aeronautical regulations, Company SMS, AS9100D and ISO 9001 standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Systems, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 12+ years of flight‑test engineering experience, preferably on UAV or manned aircraft.
• Experience with system‑level integration and full‑aircraft testing.
• Certified Flight Test Engineer (Category II or higher) preferred.

Required skills

• Flight‑test planning, instrumentation and data analysis.
• Proficiency with MATLAB and Python.
• Telemetry analysis software.
