Principal Infrastructure Engineer - Automation & GitOps

About the role

A contract / interim Principal Infrastructure Engineer position in Abu Dhabi, UAE, within the banking and financial services sector. The role modernises mission-critical enterprise infrastructure through automation, reproducible configuration and resilient engineering practices.

Key responsibilities

• Engineer infrastructure across on-premises, hybrid and cloud estates.
• Create reusable Terraform and Ansible automation.
• Apply GitOps and Argo CD where appropriate to infrastructure delivery.
• Improve monitoring, reliability, recovery and incident prevention.
• Develop secure baseline configurations and operational controls.
• Lead complex troubleshooting and coach infrastructure engineering teams.

Required profile

• Preferred background: experience delivering technology solutions in banking, financial services or another highly regulated enterprise.
• Strong hands-on technical leadership is preferred over purely managerial experience.

Required skills

• Linux and enterprise infrastructure engineering.
• Terraform, Ansible, automation and infrastructure as code.
• Kubernetes or OpenShift and GitOps exposure.
• Networking, observability, resilience and production operations.
