Project Director - Infrastructure (Storm Water PMC)

About the role

AECOM is looking for an experienced and decisive Project Director to lead its Infrastructure Storm Water Project Management Consultant (PMC) team in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The role oversees the planning, execution and delivery of critical storm water infrastructure projects so they are completed on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards, acting as the main point of contact for stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and oversee storm water infrastructure projects from conception through completion, aligned with project objectives and client requirements.
• Develop project plans, schedules and budgets; monitor progress and take corrective action.
• Lead and manage multidisciplinary teams of engineers, contractors and consultants, giving clear direction and performance feedback.
• Identify, analyse and mitigate project risks and develop contingency plans.
• Manage stakeholder communications and relationships, reporting regularly on status, milestones and deliverables.
• Oversee contract management, procurement and vendor coordination.
• Carry out quality assurance reviews and inspections against design specifications and regulatory standards.
• Monitor budgets and expenditures, control costs and prepare financial reports.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations, environmental standards and safety requirements.
• Prepare and present project reports, performance metrics and recommendations to senior management and clients.

Required profile

• Minimum 20 years of project management experience, including at least 5 years in a director or senior management role overseeing infrastructure projects.
• Proven expertise in storm water management, drainage systems or related civil infrastructure projects.
• Experience managing and motivating cross-functional teams.
• Experience on infrastructure projects in the UAE or Middle East preferred.
• Familiarity with UAE regulations, building codes and environmental compliance preferred.

Required skills

• Project management methodologies such as PMI, PRINCE2 or equivalent.
• Project management software such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6 or similar.
• Contract management, procurement and vendor coordination.
• Construction practices, civil engineering principles and infrastructure delivery.
• Professional project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent) preferred.
