Psychiatric Nurse – Inpatient & Outpatient Care

About the role

The Mental Health Nurse delivers safe, patient‑centered care to individuals with psychiatric illnesses, emotional disturbances, and behavioral challenges across inpatient units, emergency psychiatry, and outpatient clinics in Abu Dhabi.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive mental health and risk assessments.
• Develop, implement and evaluate individualized care plans.
• Monitor patients with acute and chronic psychiatric conditions.
• Administer and monitor psychotropic medications.
• Manage psychiatric emergencies using de‑escalation techniques.
• Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments and relapse prevention.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and allied health professionals.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with hospital policies and UAE regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Valid DOH/DHA/MOH nursing license or eligibility.
• Minimum 2 years experience in mental health/psychiatric nursing; tertiary hospital experience preferred.
• BLS certification.

Required skills

• Medication administration, especially psychotropic agents.
• Crisis intervention and suicide risk management.
• Therapeutic communication and de‑escalation techniques.
• Clinical judgment and critical thinking.
