Qualifications QA Specialist

About the role

OPITO is looking for a Qualifications QA Specialist who reports to the Qualifications QA Manager. You will approve OPITO-approved training centres through initial site visits and ongoing monitoring audits against OPITO Standards and Approval Criteria. The role involves ensuring consistent delivery of training and assessment, maintaining the integrity of the QA process and supporting OPITO's business.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure training and assessment are delivered consistently by all approved centres according to OPITO approval criteria and standards, and maintain the integrity of the QA process and its KPIs.
• Provide feedback to the QA Manager on possible improvements to OPITO Standards and processes.
• Develop and implement auditing activities, close out remedial actions and ensure corrective actions are taken when centre concerns are identified.
• Give feedback and coaching to improve compliance and quality performance, and participate in investigations of quality incidents, customer complaints and non-conformances.
• Contribute to Centre Forums, provide technical advice to training centres and employers, and attend exhibitions and conferences as required.
• Help ensure the Approval Criteria reflect best practice and contribute to the annual business plan.

Required profile

• Essential: professional qualification and occupational experience in one of the key qualification streams (Mechanical, Instrumentation and Control, Electrical, Processing or Renewables).
• Strong attention to detail and analytical capability; business-level written and spoken English.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities and meet deadlines, with regular travel within and between regions.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management systems.
• Desirable: Lead Auditor (e.g. ISO 9001), Competence Assessor, Internal Verifier and Health and Safety (e.g. NEBOSH) qualifications.
• Desirable: knowledge of ISO management systems, continuous improvement methods, root cause analysis and corrective action verification.
