Recreational Assistant

About the role

The Recreational Assistant supports the daily operation of recreation facilities under the NYU Project. You will ensure activity areas, sports spaces, and equipment are safe, clean, organized, and ready for use while delivering a positive experience for students, staff, and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization of recreation areas, sports courts, fitness spaces, and activity rooms.
• Assist with opening/closing procedures, facility setup, readiness checks, and basic inspections.
• Welcome and guide users, answer inquiries about bookings, schedules, rules, and equipment usage.
• Support the preparation and execution of wellness programs, sports sessions, tournaments, and community events.
• Issue, collect, inspect, clean, and store recreational equipment; track inventory and report any damage or shortages.
• Conduct safety checks, report incidents, near‑misses, and maintenance issues, and follow emergency protocols.
• Coordinate with cleaning, maintenance, security, HSE, helpdesk, and operations teams to ensure smooth service delivery.

• Ability to follow established procedures for bookings, safety, and equipment handling.
• Attention to detail for cleanliness, safety inspections, and inventory management.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including opening and closing shifts.
