Research Assistant – Mechanical/Aerospace Engineer for CubeSat Project

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical/Aerospace Engineer to join a one‑year university CubeSat mission. You will work closely with subsystem teams and students to ensure the spacecraft’s mechanical architecture is robust, manufacturable, and ready for environmental testing and flight.

Key responsibilities

• Perform thermal and structural (finite‑element) analyses of the satellite structure.
• Create and maintain 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and interface documentation.
• Support Assembly, Integration, and Testing (AIT) activities in a lab or clean‑room environment.
• Collaborate with subsystem leads to verify mechanical interfaces and tolerances.
• Prepare test procedures, reports, and documentation for vibration, thermal‑vacuum, and other environmental tests.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and production of engineering drawings.
• Experience with thermal and structural/finite‑element analysis for aerospace or precision mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of materials, fasteners, tolerances, manufacturing processes, and design‑for‑assembly principles.
• Comfortable working in a laboratory or clean‑room setting and supporting hands‑on satellite assembly.
