Research Scientist – NLP & Computational Linguistics

About the role

The Computational Approaches to Modeling Language (CAMeL) Lab at NYU Abu Dhabi seeks a Research Scientist to lead and contribute to cutting‑edge projects in natural language processing, computational linguistics, and artificial intelligence. The successful candidate will develop an independent research program while supporting the lab’s mission to advance Arabic language technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead innovative research projects in NLP, computational linguistics, and AI.
• Develop and release open‑source tools and language resources.
• Mentor junior researchers, graduate students, and interns.
• Publish findings in top‑tier conferences and journals.
• Participate in collaborative grant‑writing and interdisciplinary research activities.

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, AI, or a closely related field.
• At least six years of relevant research experience, including three years post‑PhD.
• Strong publication record in leading journals and conferences.
• Demonstrated research leadership and ability to manage independent projects.
• Knowledge of Arabic language technologies is desirable but not mandatory.
