Resident Engineer – Civil (Overhead Transmission Lines)

About the role

As a Resident Engineer – Civil you will lead the delivery of overhead transmission line (OHL) projects from initiation through close‑out, ensuring they meet schedule, budget and quality targets while upholding the highest safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the on‑site technical leader for EPC civil works, supervising contractors and managing daily OHL construction activities.
• Inspect and approve earthworks, tower foundations, access roads and drainage, ensuring compliance with drawings, method statements and inspection‑test plans.
• Review and approve civil drawings, shop drawings, material submittals and geotechnical reports.
• Enforce HSE standards and UAE/TAQA safety regulations, promoting a safety‑first culture.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, attend progress meetings and produce daily/weekly progress reports.
• Obtain and manage permits/NOCs, maintain RFIs and NCRs, and oversee procurement of materials and equipment.
• Conduct site inspections, HSE audits and quality assurance checks, resolve construction issues promptly.
• Verify as‑built documentation, certify material quantities and lead the project close‑out process.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (Master’s preferred); Professional Engineer licence preferred.
• Minimum 15 years of civil engineering experience, primarily on overhead transmission line projects.
• Strong knowledge of transmission line design, tower configurations, reinforced‑concrete foundations and geotechnical investigations.
• Proficiency with PLS‑CADD, PLS‑POLE and AutoCAD.
• Demonstrated project‑management capability, leadership skills and ability to travel to site locations.
