About the role

The International School of Choueifat seeks a dedicated Librarian to manage and enhance its school library. The role involves creating a welcoming environment where students can access information, develop research skills, and enjoy a well‑curated collection of resources.

Key responsibilities

• Assist students in locating and accessing information.
• Analyze student needs to recommend appropriate resources.
• Teach students how to navigate the Internet and digital databases.
• Coordinate programs such as Accelerated Reader (AR).
• Provide materials for classroom instruction.
• Lend and collect books, periodicals, videos, and other media.
• Inspect returned items for damage, manage due dates, and calculate overdue fines.
• Stay current with literature by reading reviews, catalogs, and publisher announcements.
• Develop and index databases, training users in research skills.
• Sort and shelve returned items.
• Negotiate contracts for acquiring materials and equipment.
• Supervise student assistants.
• Compile subject‑specific lists of books, periodicals, and audiovisual materials.
• Analyze collections and recommend new acquisitions.
• Maintain records of student library usage and coordinate with supervisors on attendance.
• Submit daily activity reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Well‑read and knowledgeable about books.
• Proficient in English with strong communication skills.
• Excellent organizational abilities.
• Punctual and reliable.
• Conscientious with a strong sense of responsibility.
