Senior Application & Design Engineer - Oil & Gas

About the role

A client is looking for a Senior Application & Design Engineer to join its Technical Sales Support and Aftermarket Applications team for REFIT Oil & Gas projects. The engineer provides technical application engineering, design, costing and proposal support for REFIT and upgrade opportunities, managing customer enquiries from initial design and quotation through to order acceptance and handover. The role combines technical application engineering with sales-oriented project management and does not involve final site project execution.

Key responsibilities

• Review client enquiries against engineering standards, prepare proposals and conduct system selection, design and calculations, producing 2D/3D drawings in AutoCAD and Inventor and technical data sheets.
• Carry out site surveys to gather field measurements and technical data needed for proposals.
• Work with global support groups and internal departments to assess project risks, costs and system compatibility before bidding.
• Prepare cost estimates, negotiate quotations with manufacturers, suppliers and subcontractors, and write technical specifications, tender documents and commercial proposals.
• Analyse market trends and competitor pricing to recommend cost-reduction strategies.
• Manage the pre-execution phase of customer orders, track milestones within budget, coordinate handover to project execution teams and develop tracking tools.
• Act as the main liaison between clients, consultants, contractors and vendors, and attend technical meetings with customers.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5-8 years of experience in a technical, applications or engineering support role.
• Experience in air intake filtration or large equipment HVAC is preferred.
• Proven experience handling technical customer communications and solving complex engineering problems.
• Valid driving licence is mandatory.

Required skills

• High proficiency in Autodesk Product Design Suite (AutoCAD, Inventor) and 2D/3D modelling.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and MS Project.
• Working knowledge of Salesforce or an equivalent CRM.
