Senior Bridge Load Rating Specialist (Remote UAE)

About the role

A fully remote, 100% work-from-home position for an experienced Senior Bridge Load Rating Specialist in the United Arab Emirates. The specialist assesses bridge load-carrying capacity, structural performance and safety using engineering calculations, inspection records and analytical models, reviewing design documentation, evaluating structural analysis results and preparing technical recommendations for infrastructure safety, asset management and rehabilitation.

Key responsibilities

• Perform bridge load rating assessments using structural drawings, material properties, inspection reports and traffic loading data.
• Review structural models and evaluate load-carrying capacity under applicable design and rating requirements.
• Assess bridge components such as decks, girders, trusses, piers, abutments and foundations where data are available.
• Analyze structural calculations to identify capacity limitations, critical members and governing load cases.
• Incorporate deterioration, section loss and material deficiencies from condition reports into ratings.
• Evaluate the effects of heavy vehicles, permit loads, traffic restrictions and changes in bridge use.
• Develop recommendations for load posting, further investigation, strengthening, rehabilitation or monitoring.
• Collaborate remotely with bridge engineers, transportation authorities, structural consultants and asset managers.
• Prepare load rating reports, calculation packages, technical reviews and supporting documentation.
• Ensure analyses follow bridge evaluation codes, owner requirements and engineering standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in civil or structural engineering.
• Significant experience in bridge engineering, structural analysis, bridge evaluation or load rating.
• Familiarity with standards such as the AASHTO Manual for Bridge Evaluation or equivalent local requirements.
• Ability to interpret drawings, inspection reports, calculations and condition data; knowledge of load rating factors, permit vehicle loading and risk-based evaluation.
• Professional engineering registration or licensure is an advantage.

Required skills

• Structural analysis and bridge engineering software such as MIDAS Civil, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro or specialized load rating tools.
• Excellent analytical, technical writing and engineering judgment skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate in a fully remote environment.
