Senior Embryologist - IVF Laboratory

About the role

The Senior Embryologist provides advanced embryology services within the IVF laboratory, ensuring high standards of clinical and laboratory practice across assisted reproductive technologies. The role offers technical leadership and supervision to the embryology team, works closely with clinicians to optimise patient outcomes, and supports quality, compliance and continuous improvement within the IVF service.

Key responsibilities

• Perform advanced embryology and andrology procedures, including ICSI, embryo culture and assessment, embryo transfer, biopsy, cryopreservation and gamete handling.
• Ensure effective laboratory operations, equipment management, safety and quality control.
• Maintain high standards of quality assurance, documentation and regulatory compliance.
• Provide technical guidance, training, supervision and mentorship to embryologists and laboratory staff.
• Collaborate with clinicians and multidisciplinary teams throughout patient treatment cycles.
• Contribute to research, service development and the implementation of improved laboratory techniques and protocols.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Health Sciences or Applied Science, Biology/Zoology with an emphasis on Human Embryology, or a Master's in human Assisted Reproductive Technologies, Clinical Embryology or Reproductive Sciences.
• Valid or eligible DHA, DOH or MOH license as an Embryologist.
• At least 5 years' experience in an IVF laboratory with hands-on experience in key procedures; 8 years preferred.
• Experience in a JCI-accredited facility or multi-site IVF operation, and previous involvement in embryology research or quality assurance programmes, are desirable.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge and practical expertise in IVF laboratory and embryology procedures.
• Strong skills in ICSI, embryo culture and grading, cryopreservation, andrology and micromanipulation techniques.
• Understanding of laboratory quality control, quality assurance, SOPs and regulated clinical practices.
• Knowledge of the UAE regulatory healthcare framework related to IVF.
• Commitment to patient confidentiality, safety and ethical practice.
