Senior Engineer Propulsion

About the role

EDGE, an advanced technology group headquartered in the UAE, is hiring a Senior Propulsion Engineer through its Advanced Concepts entity, which designs and deploys autonomous systems including unmanned aerial vehicles, loitering munitions, cruise missiles and guided artillery munitions. The role leads the end-to-end design, development and testing of solid rocket propulsion systems, drawing on over 8 years of aerospace engineering expertise, and includes mentoring junior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead or contribute to the design, analysis and testing of composite propellant rocket motors
• Develop grain geometries, cases, ignition systems and nozzle structures
• Conduct performance modelling, internal ballistics and structural analysis
• Collaborate with manufacturing, material science, energetics, instrumentation and test-stand teams
• Prepare technical specifications and test reports, and support test campaigns, data reduction and post-fire evaluation
• Maintain oversight of safety and risk mitigation during development, integration and testing
• Develop project schedules, milestones and critical paths for propulsion systems
• Mentor junior engineers and drive innovation in propulsion R&D

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years in solid rocket propulsion engineering
• Knowledge of solid rocket propulsion technology covering design, manufacturing, testing and analysis
• Experience in industrialization of key manufacturing processes and project management
• Proficiency in English; experience in the UAE or Middle East is desirable but not mandatory

Required skills

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical or Materials Engineering (preferred)
• Proficiency with CAD, FEA and analysis tools such as ANSYS, NX, MATLAB, CEA or equivalents (preferred)
