Senior Hardware Engineer (PCB Design)

About the role

ADVANCED CONCEPTS, an entity within EDGE, develops high-technology autonomous systems including unmanned aerial systems, loitering munitions, cruise missiles and guided artillery munitions. It is looking for a Senior Hardware Engineer in Abu Dhabi to design and develop advanced printed circuit boards and embedded systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design PCBs using Altium or similar software, covering schematic capture, component libraries, SPICE analysis and layout
• Design electronic safety and arming devices to military standards such as MIL-STD-1316
• Design with advanced chips such as FPGA, MCUs and DDR memory, and layout multilayer PCBs with blind-buried vias, via-in-pad, BGA and SMT/PTH components
• Design PCBs for harsh military environments, separating analog and digital domains and mitigating EMI, ESD and noise through grounding, shielding and filtering
• Draw power system layouts including component placement, signal routing, power planes and thermal management
• Generate BOMs, Gerber files and assembly drawings, and ensure documentation meets IPC and military standards
• Mentor and train junior technical personnel, and use debugging tools such as soft logic analyzers
• Conduct hardware testing and troubleshooting with oscilloscopes and logic analyzers

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering
• Minimum 8 years of experience in VHDL code writing
• Track record of successful PCB design in a defense context
• Proven ability to troubleshoot hardware on PCB prototypes
